We were so concerned about dust and waste materials making our kitchen unlivable while the work was being done. My Kitchen My Way cleaned up after themselves each and every day, which allowed us to use our kitchen with little or no interruptions. - M. Simpson, Wake Forest, NC

Q. Why is refacing better than new cabinets?

A. Often times the only thing wrong with your kitchen are drawers that don't work right or door and drawer front finishes that are worn. Refacing leaves your original boxes, and refinishes them to match your new doors and drawer fronts. Also, all your old drawers are replaced, as are the drawer slides.

Q. Does it cost the same to reface a kitchen as it would to get new cabinets?

A. With refacing you get a new kitchen at a fraction of the cost of new cabinets.

Q. Why shouldn't I just paint (or repaint) my cabinets?

A. 90% of all cabinets we have refaced over a 25-year span were painted at least once. Cabinet doors and drawers take so much abuse, even the best paint job looks bad after a short period of time. (back to top)

Q. What if I don't like the layout of my kitchen? Isn't the only way to change my kitchen layout with new cabinets?

A. Absolutely NOT! My Kitchen My Way has a Certified Professional Carpenter on staff with the necessary skills to make changes to your original kitchen as you see fit, again for less than new cabinets.

Q. What is the difference between your product and the material national home improvement companies provide?

A. No contest! 100% of the materials we supply for your new kitchen are real wood. Most of the products sold by others are MDF, which is essentially compressed cardboard, then coated with a vinyl type product. Our products are assembled by Amish craftsmen in Pennsylvania to our specifications.

Q. Real wood materials sound pretty expensive! Won't national chains be cheaper?

A. Cheaper in quality, yes. Our advantage at My Kitchen My Way is simplicity. You only deal with one person from design consultation all the way through to the completion of your new kitchen. With the big boys, (hold your breath, long sentence coming), sales person, measure person, job coordinator, sales manager, installer (often not the same one every day), installation manager, coordination manager, etc. That's a lot of salary and commission you're having to pay! With My Kitchen My Way, you're paying for material and installation. That's it, NO middleman. (back to top)

Q. How long will I have to go without using my kitchen?

A. That's another beauty of refacing. Most jobs are finished, completely finished, (i.e. no punch list) in three to five days. You can still use your kitchen in the evening in most cases. With a kitchen remodel, (new cabinets), four to six weeks is common with no use of your kitchen until it's finished.

Q. How big of a mess will my house be in?

A. None! The entire process of refacing is relatively clean to start with. Any dust producing processes are contained. Normally, plastic is not required to contain dust, but we can certainly block off the work area if you prefer. Any mess made during the day is cleaned up before we leave that same evening, so you can keep using your kitchen.

Q. What happens to all my old cabinets drawers and doors?

A. At the completion of your job, all old materials are hauled away. (back to top)

Q. I want a new countertop done when I get my refacing done. How do I coordinate that?

A. My Kitchen My Way is a full service company. We can coordinate all work to be done so that it happens together seamlessly. Countertops, floors, backsplash, lighting, even painting will be coordinated by MKMW.

Q. My Kitchen needs work done, but I can't afford a whole new refacing. What can I do?

A. MKMW will provide a complimentary consultation at which time we offer several inexpensive options. For example, just replacing drawers can make a world of difference to the look of your kitchen.

Q. I don't live near Greensboro, will you come to my area for a consultation?

A. MKMW will go anywhere east of I-77. (back to top)

Q.My kitchen doesn't look that bad, why shouldn't I wait until it's really bad?

A. In all the years we've done kitchen refacing, not one customer ever said they wished they had waited. In fact, without exception, they always say I wish I had done it sooner.
